Front Sight is Going the DistanceFront Sight Firearms Training Institute, headed up by Dr. Ignatius Piazza, is attempting an entirely new, never-before-seen idea: a luxury, world-class gated community based around guns. Covered by Tom Gorman in the LA Times, Front Sight would be the ultimate in firearms training: who wouldn’t be more than willing to visit an entire luxury residential community, anchored not by a measly golf range or two, but by 12 shooting ranges, a 12,000 square foot martial arts gymnasium, a five-story SWAT tactics training tower and hundreds of yards of underground tunnels – designed for training in lowlight, restricted areas, stairwells and hallways? But don’t think that you have to be a resident of the $25 million residential project to take part in some of the courses – quite the opposite. While dozens of families have already jumped at the $300,000 price tag for a 1-acre plot and building rights, Front Sight continues to be the leader in American shooting schools. Front Sight has trained more students than all other shooting schools in America combined. That’s pretty impressive from a school that was conceived only in 1988 and begun in the early 90’s. Though it wasn’t until fairly recently that Dr. Piazza was able to send the project and institute to Nevada. The facility is now a 550-acre project, and as Mr. Gorman discovered when he took his mandatory pre-article firearms training course, Front Sight does not attract the “typical” gun-toting redneck or anti-government weirdo. As Dr. Piazza mentions elsewhere, the price tag on a typical course, $900, is enough to keep such elements out of Front Sight. Only those Americans truly interested in learning to capably defend themselves and their loved ones afford the price tag, and as such, Front Sight receives only the finest students and trains them to the best of their abilities.
